Build Quality Consulting was founded on a simple belief: people deserve better from the construction industry.
My journey into construction began more than 10 years ago when I decided to pursue carpentry. I wanted to learn a skill that would allow me to create things, solve problems and take pride in what I'd built.
Over the years, I've worked across different areas of the industry, from residential carpentry and joinery to commercial construction, formwork and running my own projects. Those experiences gave me a broad understanding of how construction works, but they also opened my eyes to some of its shortcomings.
Too often, I saw speed and profit prioritised over workmanship, durability and genuine quality. Work could meet certain requirements on paper without necessarily delivering the standard a client expected or deserved. And for people without construction experience, knowing the difference isn't always easy.

Finding a Different Direction
Eventually, I became disillusioned enough with the industry that I seriously considered a different career. I still enjoyed building things, but I wanted to do work that reflected my values and gave me something to be proud of.
When I took stock of my experience and the opportunities available to me, I realised I didn't necessarily need to leave construction to find that. I could use the skills and knowledge I'd developed to create a business on my own terms.
As that idea developed, so did the purpose behind Build Quality Consulting. I'd seen how easily property owners could be disadvantaged when they lacked the knowledge to question workmanship, understand their options or recognise potential problems. I wanted to put that experience to better use — helping people make informed decisions, protecting their interests and delivering work I could genuinely stand behind.
Building Something Better
Today, BQC brings together hands-on construction experience, property assessments, independent advice and quality workmanship.
Whether we're identifying issues, recommending solutions, supporting a project or carrying out repairs and improvements, the objective remains the same — to look after the client's interests and get things done properly.
For me, construction has always been about more than simply finishing a job. There's real satisfaction in creating something that's built to last, taking pride in the details and seeing a client genuinely happy with the result.
That's the standard I'm building BQC around.
